This new round of snow that brought up to a foot in some areas and sub-freezing temperatures for the next few days has shut down some government agencies, many businesses, and almost all schools. Unlike other storms, people are staying home, leaving the streets clear of the numerous accidents that usually tie up emergency services.
In the eary hours of the storm, crews could not keep up with the continual snow, and they are thankful that people gave them room to work. The snow removal crews are putting in 84 hour work weeks with the harsh winter we’ve had so far.
Now, 240, I40, and I26 are mostly cleared, but it’s the secondary roads that are treacherous. Asheville says it hopes to get to the secondary roads by Tuesday afternoon.
News 13, WLOS, is reporting that all of the snow is good for the ski resorts- Wolf Ridge is reporting 75 inches of snow for the season and a packed house as skiers braved the elements for excellent skiing, snow boarding and tubing.
