Winter’s here! Cold weather and high snow levels mean the skiing, snow boarding, and tubing are great at Wolf Laurel, just 30 minutes north of Asheville. Visitors to Asheville can tour the town in the morning and hit the slopes in the afternoon. Area residents can purchase season passes for what’s shaping up to be another very cold winter.

Those wanting a relaxing getaway can book one of 30 private cabins. Spend your days sloshing down the slopes or relaxing by one of the fireplaces in the upper or lower lodges. On weekends, the Upper Wolf Ridge Lodge is open for keeping warm, a casual breakfast lunch or dinner, and the Lodge Steak and Rib Restaurant. The Lower Lodge is open every day and also offers breakfast, lunch, dinner (and hot chocolate!) and a great view of the slopes. Day visitors who don’t want to brave the elements can relax in the lodge or swim at the glass enclosed pool for $5/day.

Homeschoolers enjoy discounts on Tuesdays.
